The rector of Azerbaijan Technological University (ATU), Yashar Omarov, Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation (acting), Advisor for Science and Foreign Relations, Sahil Hamidov and Dean of the Faculty of Food Engineering, Mehman Ismayilov visited the “Ulduz” Chocolate Factory and the “Xonça” Factory, both part of the Veyseloglu Group of Companies.
During the visit, meetings were held at both facilities-with Kazim Babayev, Executive Director of the “Ulduz” Chocolate Factory, and Rahman Alekberov, Head of the “Xoncha” Factory-to discuss prospects for future collaboration.
The ATU leadership also familiarized themselves with the operational principles of the factories, the modern technologies in use, and the staffing needs, engaging in discussions with the specialists.
It’s worth noting that the “Ulduz” Chocolate Factory, operating since 2001, is one of the largest and most highly automated chocolate factories not only in Azerbaijan but across the Caucasus region. The facility employs 300 workers and utilizes nine different technologies. The “Ulduz” national brand offers over 200 product varieties and exports to more than 20 countries.
Founded in 2016, the “Xoncha” Factory specializes in the production of confectionery and bakery products, as well as catering services. The factory produces 8,000 tons of products annually and provides 800 jobs. Its workforce includes technologists and staff trained in France, Germany, Austria, Russia, and Ukraine.

By the decision of the Supreme Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated June 24, 2025, Mehman Karimov-Advisor to the Rector of Azerbaijan Technological University (ATU) on Strategic Development and Digitalization, PhD in Economics-has been awarded the academic title of Associate Professor in the field of Economics, specializing in 5308.01 – General Economics.
Additionally, by the decision of the Supreme Attestation Commission dated June 30, 2025, Mehriban Aslanova-PhD in Technical Sciences and staff member of the Department of Food Engineering and Expertise-has been awarded the academic title of Associate Professor in the field of Technical Sciences, specializing in 3309.01 – Food Product Technology, in recognition of her scientific and pedagogical contributions.

The final meeting of the Scientific Council for the 2024/2025 academic year was held at Azerbaijan Technological University (ATU). The university's rector and chairman of the Scientific Council, Yashar Omarov, announced the meeting open, noting that a quorum was present, and presented the agenda items.
During the meeting, Rector Yashar Omarov delivered a report on ATU’s activities during the current academic year and its prospects for development.
Following this, based on the presentation by Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation, Doctor of Philosophy in Economics, and Advisor on Science and International Relations, Sahil Hamidov, the work plan of the Scientific Council for the first semester of the 2025/2026 academic year was discussed and approved. Subsequently, reports from Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management Fazil Karimov and Head of the Department of Tourism Industry Organization Yusif Humbatov were heard.
Within the framework of the meeting, Vice-Rector for Social Affairs and Public Relations and Chairman of the Teaching Methodology Council, Shahmar Hasanov, presented on the approval of teaching and methodological materials. Head of the Department for the Organization and Management of Teaching, Jasarat Shabanov, discussed the determination of workload norms for the academic staff. Head of the Human Resources Department, Ilham Alizade, presented proposed changes to the staffing schedule. Head of the Quality Assurance and Audit Department, Doctor of Philosophy in Economics, Matlab Aliyev, spoke on the creation of an Organizing Committee to prepare the Self-Assessment Report for the accreditation process. All items on the agenda were discussed and corresponding decisions were made.
An "Open Day" was held at Azerbaijan Technological University (ATU). Organized in connection with the spring examination session, the event was attended by parents, university leadership, and faculty deans.
Vice-Rector for Social Affairs and Public Relations Shahmar Hasanov, Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation, Doctor of Philosophy in Economics, and Advisor on Science and International Relations Sahil Hamidov provided information during a roundtable discussion regarding the examination process and the checking of results. They noted that in accordance with the relevant directive of the Ministry of Science and Education, the Examination Headquarters and Appeals Commission are in operation. To ensure transparency in the exam process and objective assessment of students’ knowledge, surveillance cameras have been installed in exam rooms, and a QR code system has been introduced to allow quick and easy submission of suggestions, feedback, and complaints.
Later, the Chairman of the Examination Commission and Head of the Department for the Organization and Management of Teaching, Jasarat Shabanov, presented the examination process in real-time through a monitoring system. Addressing the parents watching the exams live, he stated that the examinations, which began on June 2, 2025, are conducted according to a set schedule in both test and written formats. Students are given 3 hours for written exams and 1 hour for tests. Results are checked in a special coding room, and appeals submitted to the Appeals Commission are reviewed on the spot to ensure fair and objective decisions.
Parents expressed their appreciation for the measures taken to prevent any negative occurrences and stated their satisfaction with the conditions created for transparent and objective evaluation of students’ knowledge.
It should be noted that the spring examination session at Azerbaijan University of Technology will continue until July 11.
A regular meeting of the Public Oversight Council (POC) of Azerbaijan Technological University (ATU) was held. At the meeting, ATU Rector Yashar Omarov welcomed the members of the Council and emphasized the importance of the issues to be discussed, the proposals and recommendations to be made, and, more broadly, the importance of understanding public opinion in the university's operations.
Members present at the meeting included Members of Parliament Nagif Hamzayev and Mushfig Jafarov, regional correspondent of Respublika newspaper Zabit Khalilov, representative of the Ganja-Dashkasan branch of the “Regional Development” Public Union Aisha Osmanli, Chairman of the “Center for the Development of Initiatives” Public Union Azad Rahimov, and Chairwoman of the “Temas” Regional Development Public Union Sudaba Mammadova.
The POC members familiarized themselves with the 2024/2025 academic year's spring examination session and observed the process via monitoring systems. They were provided with information about the course and organization of the exams, as well as the activities of the Examination Commission and Appeals Commission.
The meeting also included a discussion of the current situation and future priorities regarding the development of ATU following the spring exam session. In conclusion, the Council presented a set of recommendations and proposals to the university administration.
It should be noted that the ATU Public Oversight Council was established in 2023 and this initiative was the first of its kind implemented among the universities of Ganja.
