Azerbaijan Technological University (ATU) held a commemoration program dedicated to the 34th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide. The event began with the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan. This was followed by a moment of silence in memory of all martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of our homeland, symbolized by the compatriots killed during the Khojaly genocide.
As part of the program, the feature film “Eight Days in Captivity” was screened. The film was produced within the framework of the international awareness campaign “Justice for Khojaly!” initiated by Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Leyla Aliyeva. The film reflects the pain and suffering of the tragedy through the story of the late Durdana Agayeva, a witness of the Khojaly genocide who endured eight days of severe torture in Armenian captivity, and her brother Elshad Agayev.
Following the screening, Vice-Rector for Social Affairs and Public Relations Shahmar Hasanov delivered a speech highlighting the scale and historical consequences of the Khojaly tragedy. He emphasized that under the leadership of the Commander-in-Chief, the valiant Azerbaijani Army liberated our occupied lands, including Khojaly, thereby avenging our martyrs. It was noted that the blood memory of our people will never be erased, and the truths of Khojaly will continue to be conveyed to future generations.
The event concluded with a recital by second-year student Khadija Gurbanli, who performed N. Maharramli’s poem “My Name is Child” dedicated to the Khojaly tragedy.
