At the Azerbaijan Technological University (ATU), specialists from Kapital Bank conducted training sessions on cybersecurity. The training was organized within the nationwide awareness campaign “Stop, Think, Verify,” initiated by Kapital Bank, one of ATU’s active partners.

During the sessions, Emil Gasimov, Deputy Director of the Security Department of Kapital Bank; Nasib Suleymanov, Head of the Fraud and Digital Operations Investigation Department; and Vugar Pashayev, Manager of the Ganja branch of the bank, spoke to participants about the types of cyber fraud, real fraud cases, defense methods, and the bank’s security mechanisms.

Bank representatives discussed real fraud incidents, emphasizing that fraudsters often exploit the emotional state of citizens. They highlighted cases in which individuals were deceived through phone calls or various social media platforms. Participants were also warned that it is unacceptable to allow third parties to use their plastic bank cards. The representatives noted that sharing card information directly enables fraudulent activities, and that everyone can protect themselves from fraudsters by knowing and following simple cyber hygiene rules.

At the end of the training, an interactive Q&A session was held with the participants. Real-life fraud situations encountered by students and staff in their daily lives were discussed, and the audience’s questions were answered by the bank representatives.
